Senghor University in Alexandria is launching a call for applications for a short face-to-face certified training course in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo on “management of emergencies and health crises”.
This training will be held from November 23 to 27, 2026 in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The deadline for submitting the application file is August 31, 2026 at midnight GMT.
Around twenty candidates will be selected with particular attention to female candidates. Senghor University reserves the right not to respond to this call for applications.
The African public health landscape is marked by an increase in health emergencies, which are now more frequent, complex and interconnected. Pandemics, epidemics, natural disasters and humanitarian crises take a significant toll on health systems, revealing persistent limitations in preparedness, coordination and response. These crises require strengthened strategic and operational management capacities to ensure rapid, effective and context-adapted interventions.
In French-speaking Africa, these challenges are amplified by the fragility of health systems and the recurrence of health shocks. National actors, although increasingly mobilized, face a skills gap in planning, multisectoral coordination and management of health emergency interventions. This situation affects the quality, consistency and sustainability of the responses provided to populations.
In this context, strengthening capacities for piloting health emergency interventions appears to be a strategic priority. The “management of emergency interventions and health crises” certification training offered by Senghor University aims to provide professionals with the necessary tools to effectively design, coordinate and manage responses to health crises, based on international standards and good practices in public health.
Objectives
- Develop, among professionals, the capacities for strategic management, operational coordination and management of health emergencies and crises in order to ensure effective preparation, an adapted response and the strengthening of the resilience of health systems and communities.
Target Audience
- This training is mainly aimed at professionals and executives in activity or in retraining, engaged in humanitarian action, development, crisis management or resilience.
- Executives from ministries of health, managers of programs, health districts or crisis management units
- Public health professionals (doctors, epidemiologists, health service managers, epidemiological surveillance managers) involved in responding to emergencies
- Actors from humanitarian organizations and NGOs (national and international) working in the field of health
- Staff of disaster management agencies and national civil protection structures
- Executives from international organizations, research institutes or development projects involved in emergency health interventions
- Any professional wishing to strengthen their skills in piloting, coordinating and managing public health emergency interventions
