Discover the origins and evolution of Senghor University, born from an ambitious vision for the development of Francophone Africa.
Initiative born at the Francophonie Summit in Dakar
1990-2003
L'Université ouvre ses portes à Alexandrie avec 71 étudiants répartis dans trois départements, et connaît une croissance régulière jusqu'à la crise de direction de 2003-2004.
2002-2009 : Réforme et stabilisation
Face à la réduction des dotations, l'Université engage une rationalisation budgétaire et qualitative, notamment par le passage au système LMD.
2009-2016 : Externalisation
L'Université déploie un réseau de campus partenaires à travers l'Afrique et au-delà pour répondre à la demande croissante de formation et compenser la baisse des ressources.
2017-2021 : Modernisation
Face aux dysfonctionnements organisationnels et aux mutations du secteur, l'Université engage une refonte globale de sa mission, de ses méthodes et de ses outils pour reconquérir son leadership en Afrique francophone.
2021-2025 : Consolidation
Building on the previous period, the University restructures and refines its priorities around training excellence, entrepreneurial university status and strategic partnerships, adopting a new internal organization with new cross-cutting services.
2026-2030 : Transformation
Supported by the new Borg El Arab campus, the University undertakes an institutional scaling-up around three integrating axes — training, governing, outreach — to establish itself as an African and Francophone center of excellence with measurable continental impact.
